Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes. This is a relatively short book but written with Stevenson’s customary flair, both in his use of language and his skill in bringing places and people to life. His early travails centre round the almost insuperable difficulties with his mode of transport, namely his donkey, but these are overcome with great forbearance and some advice from local people.
