Disappointing Changes I have a shelf in my bookcase devoted to DK guides to countries all round the world. The quality of the paper has always been first class and, because of this, these books have always been a joy to handle. The quality of the paper in this recently published book is cheap, thin and inferior. Obviously orders have been given from on high to spend less. OK, the information looks fine but the pleasure of dipping into it has evaporated.

New style underwelming Did not like the design where everything is matt, smaller and difficult to read. Preferred the earlier versions which are brighter and easier on the eye. The paperback style is also rigid and difficult to use rather than the flexible spine in previous versions. As a result I did not take it on my trip to Portugal. if I had a choice I would send it back and buy an earlier version.

Portugal travel guide gets lighter Great little book which covers the highlights of Portugal. I have bought many of the DK Eyewitness guides over the years, as I have travelled, and the change in paper used in this book makes it lighter – which for me is a great idea. It has all the usual great information and maps that you would expect form. DK Eyewitness.
