Learning Teaching: 3rd Edition Student’s Book Pack (Books for Teachers) (MacMillan Books for Teachers)
Learning Teaching has been one of the most successful guides to English Language Teaching since it was first published in 1994. Its no-nonsense approach makes it a superb teaching textbook for initial training courses, and also an essential handbook for practising ELT teachers. Includes a DVD with both video material and additional teaching resources.
Really useful introduction Jim Scrivenerâs âLearning Teachingâ is an excellent introductory guide to teaching English as a foreign language that achieves what many text books find so difficult: it can be read âcover to coverâ without getting dull or dry; and it can be used as a reference book for ideas and examples. Scrivenerâs tone is supportive – you get the sense that if you asked him about a problem you were having, he would begin with a comforting âah, yes, that can be difficult …â before coming up with some ideas…
Four Stars Needed it for my CELTA course, was okay, helpful for the assignment as you need to quote authors etc.
Good investment I am at the stage (having done an online course and in vivo teaching practice) of needing more answers as well as more ideas and this book is by one of the most respected teachers who doesn’t try to pull the wool, so far as I can see, about tefl, but is transparent about his motivation to develop the practice and generous with his thoughts. I can see any teacher would never want to enter a classroom without this book somewhere close at hand.
