You will need this book! Love this book. Iâm a newbie to project managing a build so itâs been invaluable at trying to see if Iâm getting ripped off, what all the builders jargon is (so I donât look like that newbie). Well worth the small investment; I will be purchasing the next editions to keep up to date. Well written, methodical and in Plain English with some humorous comments to lighten what is a broad, and to us, a complicated subject. All builders and architects have their own ways and opinions but having this…
Letâs put this in perspective.. for me not for all Ok so I was recommended this book. What i wanted was a more technical book so that as I built in knew simple things like what height the Dom should be, what mix concrete to use for the foundation, should the ceiling vapour barrier on a flat roof go under the plasterboard or above the insulation? What size beams should I use in the ceiling and Flor? …. well in answered none of these!Itâs not a bad book but itâs not designed to let you challenge your builders if they gat technical stuff…
Bargain basement edition Just received my copy of this book and hadnât read the 1 star reviews before buying as I had a previous edition and know that this is a great book. However…..oh dear, what a drop in publishing quality! Bargain basement feel and some of the print looks as though it was done on a dot matrix printer from the 1980âs. What a let down – price should be £9.99 for this edition. Unfair of people to give it one star though – I dropped mine to 3 from what would have been a 4 or maybe 5.
