This is the first complete account in the English language of this popular but secretive species. Backed by detailed tables and definitive maps, this fully illustrated book describes the Hobby’s breeding cycle, varied hunting techniques and wide prey spectrum. It also examines the bird’s status throughout it’s eurasian range.
Chapters include a review of its status and ecology throughout the Eurasian range, notably in Britain, the mystery of its migration and what is known about its wintering quarters. Factors that may be governing the size, distribution and reproduction of its breeding populations are also discussed.

Excellent book covering the whole cycle of this magnificent Excellent book covering the whole cycle of this magnificent, and oft overlooked, bird. Fantastic detail taken not only from the authors wide experiences of observing and studying this bird, but a wide range of international raptor experts. A great book that gives great insight into the Hobby.
