There’s a reason they rolled it in glitter This is a miserable book about a sparkly unicorn by the same writer of a heartwarming book about warty witch! I usually love Julia Donaldson but this was disappointing. As other’s have mentioned there’s the horrible “I wish I’d never been born” line, which I tried to skip over. As well as this, my daughter is really switched on to being kind to animals and when the horse wishes to be out in the world, it didn’t escape her notice that the unicorn grants it various scenarios where it’s stuck…

Another beautiful Julia Donaldson masterpiece Yet another masterpiece by Julia Donaldson. The illustrations are second to none, and the story is beautiful and engaging. If you’ve also got the Singing Mermaid, you’ll recognise some characters in the illustrations from that book too, which is entertaining for the parent at least!
