Best of the Bunch – by far I ordered the other ‘first’ poems for children on this listing to read to my granddaughter. They are so inferior – all bland and modern, cheap copyright.This is the real thing — grand old classics like the Pied Piper of Hamelin (an extract), Matilda, Tiger! Tiger!, Dover Beach, The Owl and the Pussycat, along with modern stuff. Great book but there are some strange poems considering they … All my favourites as a child, plus a whole lot more. Great book but there are some strange poems considering they were chosen by children. (One about telling lies and getting burnt to death springs to mind). But my 7 year old loves it and picks out some every night to read. Roald Dahls little red riding hood is a real gem, worth buying the book just for that. Completely inappropriate for young children The best thing to say about this product is it’s quick delivery! My 4 1/2 year old loves poetry so I thought this would be a perfect addition to his poetry books. What a nightmare there are about 10 poems not about death or something awful. The Matilda one he would have nightmares about! Considering Macavity’s a Mystery Cat I was not expecting baby poems but at least something including a range of something age range child friendly.
