A curmudgeonly person I once heard Alfred Wainwright described as a `curmudgeonly’ person. An old fashioned word seldom used in modern day conversation. It was this description of him that prompted me to purchase the book. People that your are familiar with only through their books, films or songs seldom live up to your expectations when you meet them in person.
