Laughing out loud while I read…. I read this fabulous book in one sitting..couldnât put it down and I laughed out loud regularly. It reminded me that for all my travel and life as an expat, Iâm still Glaswegian to the core.
Not a classic autobiography…but still worth a read. To be honest, if it wasn’t Billy, and he hadn’t had Parky’s disease, I’d give this two stars. It’s just a collection of his lesser anecdotes rather than a full blown autobiography. Understandable given his condition. There are no big belly laughs – just a few stories that’ll make you smile…but you’ll get a flavour of his basic decency. Pamela Stephenson’s book on him is a much more visceral experience rather than this more mellow affair. Still….it’s the Big Yin…the greatest Scotchman…
