Another beautiful book by Studio Ghibli. This is another sumptuous volume of Studio Ghibli artwork. I have other of the books published in this series (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle) and I am always delighted with not only the quality of the book binding but also the print quality which is always bright and crisp. It is becoming a common problem in art books that the images have been enlarged beyond their original dimensions, which ultimately leads to grainy or pixelated images. This book contains a good, balanced mix of concept art This book contains a good, balanced mix of concept art, background art, cell art and film stills. The printing is OK, but not quite up the same standard as the Japanese editions of the Studio Ghibli art series. It is printed quite dark (but then again, the film is quite dark). When viewed under bright light all the detail pops out nicely. Unlike many of the other Ghibli art books, this one does not include the film script in the back, but rather an (interesting) production diary. A…
